Wasserburg am Inn

Wasserburg is one of the most historic cities in Old Bavaria. The island city presents itself to the visitor as a center of the Gothic and with its arcades, narrow streets and pretty squares pulls the guests under its spell. Due to the island location and the topographical demarcation of the Inn and the steep slope, Wasserburg seems far removed from everything we are used to. A city with pastel colored walls, with bay windows and battlements, with a gate passage and a mighty castle. Life pulsates in the old town with its colorful Gothic houses, the street cafes are full, locals and guests stroll under the arcades, shop, celebrate or have a chat in the alleys. The adventure pool & sauna world Badria or the indoor and outdoor go-kart track in Eiselfing are also predestined for your family outing

Rosenheim offers an unusual mixture of alpine tradition and southern lifestyle. Here you will find the perfect mix between culture & lifestyle. It is above all the pastel-colored house facades with their arcades, the spacious squares and the imposing onion domes that give the city on the Inn and on the Mangfall its charm. Start your tour of discovery on Max-Josefs-Platz, which forms the heart of the old town with its street cafes and attractive shopping opportunities. Quaint taverns serve local beer specialties and regional delicacies.

It gets cultural in the locomotive shed, which invites you to historical exhibitions or the other Rosenheim museums such as the Inn Museum or galleries. The highlights of the year are the Rosenheim Autumn Festival, one of the largest and most famous folk festivals in Bavaria, the summer festival with international artists and the atmospheric Christmas market.

Chiemsee

The Chiemsee is the largest lake in Bavaria and is located in a picturesque foothills of the Alps and is only 20 minutes by car from Vogtareuth. Its appeal is not only due to the natural beauty, but also to the wide range of leisure activities. The Chiemsee with Herreninsel and Fraueninsel is one of the most important sights in Germany. Vacation at the Chiemsee means: Take a boat, rowboat or pedal boat across the Chiemsee, sail or surf on the lake and or swim in the Chiemsee. The famous Chiemsee cycle path and the Chiemsee circular path for pedestrians lead around the lake, while many other cycle and hiking trails lead along the lake. On the Herreninsel, you can visit the most famous sight in our region all year round: Herrenchiemsee Castle. The Fraueninsel is a picturesque and dreamy idyll. It has a pull of its own.

Bad Endorf

Bad Endorf is a year-round destination on the Chiemsee. The Chiemgau thermal baths offer a varied feel-good experience with a unique lake and mountain panorama all year round. The church, which is one of the most beautiful examples of the late Rococo in Bavaria along with the Wieskirche, is a protected architectural monument and is a popular destination.

Amerang

Handicraft demonstrations, folk music afternoons, guided tours and much more take place in Bad Endorf. Look back around 200 years in the history of eastern Upper Bavaria and experience the life and work of farmers, craftsmen and day laborers back then. Furthermore, the museum in Amerang Castle offers an insight into the castle architecture and the history of the noble family.

Lakes

The Hofstätter See is a small swimming lake in Prutting, surrounded by a forest. The Hofstätter See is located north of Rosenheim and is one of the warmest lakes in the district. Surrounded by reed and forest areas, it only offers direct access to the shore in a few places. A wonderful promenade leads around the Hofstätter See. The “Burger Moos Moorlehrpfad” begins on the southeastern part of the beach with 14 educational boards that provide interesting information about plants, animals and life in the moor. In winter the lake freezes over quickly and offers ice skaters and stick shooters extensive opportunities. Because of the shallow shores of the lake, the lake is also very popular with families with children. The entrance is sandy and pebbly, there are plenty of shady spots in addition to a sunbathing lawn.

The Burger Moos nature trail on Lake Hofstätter See introduces visitors to many aspects of this particularly interesting marshland on 14 richly illustrated information boards. From the formation of the lake and moor to silting up and peat formation to an explanation of the most important moor types. A popular observation pulpit allows a wide view of the diverse wetland area – made up of mosses, sedges, reeds and pines. An ancient stick dam leads right across the moor, where you can find explanations about the fauna in the moor. Children and schoolchildren in particular are interested in why there are carnivorous plants in the bog and why bog corpses have survived for centuries. It takes a good hour to visit the 3.5 km long path.

The Rinssee is a special insider tip for everyone who likes it natural. In many places it is overgrown with reeds, all around a beautiful forest frames the moor lake. The water warms up quickly in early summer and stays pleasantly warm into autumn. There are three places where you can get in from the flat bank without any problems. The beautiful sunbathing lawn with sunny and shady spots is particularly popular. A small beach with coarse sand invites you to relax. But not only water rats get their money’s worth at Rinssee: A circular path leads around the lake, which is equally interesting for cyclists and hikers. Like bathers, you can admire the view from the Chiemgau to the Inntal mountains.

The Rotter Ausee lies on the border of the municipalities of Rott a. Inn and Schechen. A lot of gravel was needed for the construction of the dams on the Inn and the Inn barrage in Feldkirchen. Today the former gravel pits serve as bathing lakes. The Rotter Ausee, the Waldsee and the Erlensee were created along the Inn. The Rotter Ausee is a popular bathing lake – among the Rottern as well as the population of the neighboring communities. The bathers refresh themselves at the kiosk with ice cream, drinks and snacks. A beach volleyball field and sandboxes have been set up by the lake.

A lake that has remained originally for nature lovers and locals. The Simssee is the little, lesser known sister of the Chiemsee. It is located in the northeast of Rosenheim and borders on five municipalities: Bad Endorf, Riedering, Stephanskirchen, Prutting and Söchtenau. Its location in a picturesque hilly landscape and in front of a wonderful mountain backdrop make it a popular destination between Rosenheim and Chiemsee. With a circumference of around 14 km, the Simssee is a small and warm lake. Surrounded by a dense belt of reeds, there are four recommended bathing spots: Krottenmühl, Baierbach, Ecking, Pietzing. Fishing or sailing is also possible on Simssee. Excursion destination for cyclists and hikers.
